KUPWARA, MAY 08: Principal Secretary, Jal Shakti , Ashok Kumar Parmar today visited border district Kupwara to review the pace of progress of Jal Shakti Department. He was accompanied by the Senior Engineers of the department.
On reaching Kupwara, the Principal Secretary convened a joint meeting of concerned Engineers and PRIs at DC Office, Kupwara.
The Chairman, District Development Council (DDC), Irfan Sultan Panditpori; Vice Chairman DDC, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir, DDC Members, BDC Chairpersons and other PRIs also attended the meeting.
The Principal Secretary had a detailed review of all ongoing projects one by one and directed concerned engineers to redouble their efforts to accelerate the developmental tempo so that targets fixed are achieved within the stipulated timeframe. He also directed them to maintain the quality of works and ensure that quality material is used to build up new structures.
Regarding shortage of staff, the Principal Secretary directed the concerned officers to submit details of staff strength for consideration.
Principal Secretary said that Kupwara being hilly in nature, demands special consideration from the administration and advised field functionaries to play proactive role in resolving public issues and grievances.
DDC Chairman in his address apprised the Principal Secretary about various challenges faced due to scarcity of drinking and irrigation water across the Kupwara district. He urged upon the Principal Secretary to take into consideration the water issues faced by the people in district for timely disposal.
Vice Chairman DDC briefed about the developmental profile of the district and the water supply scenario in his territorial constituency.
Earlier, DDC Members, BDC Chairpersons apprised the Principal Secretary about water supply and irrigation issues faced in their respective areas.
