KUPWARA, MARCH 20: One-day District level exhibition cum awareness camp was held at Craft Community Centre Handwara. The district camp was organized by Department of Handloom and Handicrafts Kupwara,
The awareness camp focused on craft development and empowerment with the aim of educating and empowering and providing awareness among the local artisans and weavers.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner ( ADC), Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir inaugurated the camp in presence of Assistant Director Handloom and Handicrafts Kupwara.
Speaking on the occasion, the Assistant Director H&H Kupwara said that the Awareness camp will give artisans a suitable knowlegde of traditional handicrafts of Kashmir and avenues of their marketing.
The event was attended by over 400 participants including artisans and trainees of handicrafts.
During the awareness programe, information was imparted to participants on various departmental schemes like Registration, Credit card, Self help group and single window system.
The informative and fruitful sessions were led by experts in their respective fields, who shared their knowledge and experiences with the participants.
Participants expressed their satisfaction and thanked to department for organising awareness camp for increasing their knowledge, expertise and skills.
It was informed on the occasion that the department will organize more such awareness programmes in the future to train the artisans.
On the occasion, participants visited several stalls depicting embroidary, Gabba sazi, Numda sazi and other traditional handicrafts.
