Government Degree college Kralpora organized a one-day awareness program regarding
Empowerment of Women on 26th of December 2022, in collaboration with local
administration of Tehsil Kralpora and District Hub for Empowerment of Women Kupwara,
Social Welfare Department, J&K. The program was organised in order to spread awareness
about the different issues faced by rural women and the possible ways to tackle those issues.
The college had invited guests ranging from local administration and the DHEW Kupwara,
which included District Mission Coordinator, DHEW Kupwara, Ms Khalida Yaseen, and
Tehsildar Kralpora. A large gathering of female students from different semesters attended
the program.
The program began with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran, by Rehana
Jaan, followed by the recitation of a Naat by Tabasum Jan. The principal of the institution
Prof Dr Abdul Rashid Malik, while addressing the students, spoke about the importance of
imparting quality education to girl children in order to build a better society in the future.
Dr Malik also acknowledged the valuable efforts of DHEW Volunteers and the staff of GDC
Kralpora in making the program successful.
On this occasion, Ms Khalida Yaseen, thanked the students and staff for assisting the Distrit
Hub for Empowerment of Women, Kupwara in spreading the message of making women
empowered. She laid stress on the importance of such activities that help in uplifting,
encouraging and empowering rural women. She also talked about different women-centric
Government schemes that promise to uplift the rural women.
Dr Bashir Ahmad Shiekh enumerated the different activities conducted at GDC Kralpora
over the period of the last two months. He encouraged the students to take part in cocurricular and extra-curricular activities because such activities bring the best out of the
students and help in building all-round personalities.
Prof Manzoor Ahmad Mir presented the vote of thanks. He thanked the worthy Principal,
Prof (Dr) Ab Rashid Malik, for providing the students different platforms to express their
hidden talent. He also appreciated the organising committee for their efforts in making the
program a grand success.
