ODIC and Child Welfare committee Kupwara organised a Workshop on Drug Abuse.

Kupwara: A workshop on Drug Abuse was organised by Outreach and Drop in Centre kupwara in collaboration with child welfare committee kupwara. The cheif guest of the event was chairman child welfare committee kupwara Azad Naqashband and the event was also attended by the memebers of Juvennile Justice Board,District juvenile Police Unit Lupe’s and Handwara,civil society members and various representatives of NGOs.


In his speech Chairman CWC gave a detailed presentation about the role Child Protection Services and stakeholders in eradicating the menanc of drug abuse and rehabilitating methodology for the victims of drug abuse and for those who are in need of care and protection. On drug abuse the chief guest spoke in detail about the alarming situation which has risen in our society due to involvement of our young generation in drug abuse. He stressed upon to create a synergy among the various stakeholders so as to reach out to the maximum number of persons who are involved in substance use. While sharing his experience he also stressed upon to sensitize the community so as we can prevent our younger generation.


Convenor civil society Kupwara Showket Masoodi also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the organisers for organising the workshop on issue of drug abuse. He stressed upon all stakeholders to come up with joint strategy to fight this menace. He also suggested to organising more programs in future to create mass awareness among people.


On the occasion centre in charge ODIC kupwara Kifayat Hussain in his speech gave a presentation about the scenario of drug abuse in kupwara and role of ODIC Kupwara in rehabilitating the persons involved in substance use disorder. He suggested to have a coordination among the various departments and NGOs working in kupwara so as we can have an effective mechanism to tackle the challenge of Drug abuse.


On the event representative of various NGOs also spoke and highlighted the challenges of Drug abuse and suggested their ideas. The program was coordinated by the team of ODIC kupwara Run By National Educational society and social welfare organisation ( Nesswo).
