Srinagar, March 29: The Jammu & Kashmir National Health Mission Employees Association (JKNHMEA) has announced a 48-hour sit-in protest and strike across all districts of Jammu and Kashmir beginning April 1, 2026, pressing for long-pending demands related to pay revision, job security, and social welfare measures. The association stated that despite repeated assurances from authorities, key issues affecting thousands of NHM employees remain unresolved, forcing them to adopt a peaceful yet firm democratic course. Employees from across the Kashmir division will gather at Sher-i-Kashmir Park, Srinagar, as the main venue, symbolizing collective strength and unity. JKNHMEA leaders, including President Muneer Andrabi and Jammu President Dr. Vikas Sharma, emphasized that NHM workers have played a vital role in strengthening public healthcare under challenging conditions but continue to face insecurity due to lack of structured policies and fair remuneration. The association, backed by allied bodies like the RNTCP Employees Association, has called for immediate government intervention, reiterating their demands for equal pay, a secure job policy, and comprehensive social security benefits, while urging all employees to participate in large numbers to ensure their voices are heard.
