Major Fire Tragedy Averted by Determined Army Teams, Fire Department, JKP in Kupwara Town.

The fire initially broke out in Cooperative Bank Unit at 2330 hours and spread to 6 adjoining shops immediately. The Fire Department vehicles and Army Teams reacted immediately and tried to control the spread. Due to the coordinated efforts between district administration, JKP, Deputy Mayor and Army, additional vehicles available with Army and firefighting teams were rushed to the site. The coordination and dedicated efforts finally could douse the fire completely by 0220 hours. Though 6 shops have been completely gutted in fire, the joint efforts of all stake holders averted a major tragedy in densely packed Kupwara Town Market.
