Political groups of Jammu opposing Gupkar Declaration unfortunate: Peerzada Feroze
Srinagar, October 23: Stressing that the Gupkar Declaration is not community-specific, JKPM President Feroze Peerzada has said that all political forces must become part of the Gupkar move.
Reacting sharply to some splinter groups in Jammu coming together to oppose the Gupkar Declaration, Feroze Peerzada called it very unfortunate. In his press statement, Feroze said that on August 4, 2019, the first Gupkar declaration was signed after an all-party meeting and the resolution had parties unanimously agreeing to unify in their efforts to protect and defend the identity, autonomy and special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Then On 22 August 2020, leaders from various political parties including JKPM once again held a meeting and signed the Gupkar II Declaration to renew their resolve to adhere to the 2019 declaration that was signed
.
“How is restoring the special status of J&K anti-Jammu, we don’t understand what has Jammu got after the unconstitutional abrogation of Article 370 & 35A,” asked Feroze. “While revoking Article 370, the government made high claims but did nothing for the development of Jammu instead, jobs were lost, business in Jammu got badly hit including tourism, toll plazas were created, Covid 19 was badly managed in Jammu,” he said.
Feroze said the time has come for the people of all regions and communities from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to come together to raise their voice for their rights and not to be fooled by communal elements in Jammu.
