Forest department launches mobile app based attendance for field staff

SAJAD LONE

Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department has introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) based Facial Attendance Management System for its field staff with a view to bring transparency and more accuracy in the department to monitor daily operations.

According a circular a copy , the department has to roll-out this attendance system across all its divisions in Jammu and Kashmir.

The circular states that the department has to register DFOs, Range Officers and all the field staff on the Mobile Application which is available on Play Store with the name AI-AMS J&K (IT Department J&K).

“The registration process shall start from Divisional Forest Officers followed Range Officers and then Field Staff. The DFOs shall be Sub-Admins and they shall add/accept the registered field staff under Employee Management on the portal,” it reads.

It reads that the app has been developed to facilitate front-line staff to record their attendance, capture field patrols and events encountered during such patrols.
An offical talking to KNS said that an “Automated diaries of field staff can be generated using the application. Various reports on patrols, sightings, and others can be derived date-wise, weekly and month-wise. It will be very useful for monitoring staff’s overall activity,” it added.

He further said that the app can show the exact location of the staff, using which they can register all updates, offenses, and nursery activities too.
“All staff who are using this app have a username and password. They need internet to login the app. The launch of app will bring transparency and more accuracy in the department to monitor daily operations,“ he added. (Inputs KNS)
