Remote habitations of Narikoot Bandwali and Jabad Moori finally linked after decades; BSNL tower work underway and ₹12 crore power project set to begin
Kupwara: MLA Kupwara Mir Mohammad Fayaz today inaugurated two key road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in block Kalaroos. The newly sanctioned roads will provide first-time connectivity to the remote habitations of Narikoot Bandwali and Jabad Moori, which remained unconnected for decades.
These long-pending projects were warmly appreciated by the local community, who expressed gratitude to the MLA Kupwara for approving and facilitating the much-needed road infrastructure in the area.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials including the Executive Engineer PMGSY Division Kupwara, Naib Tehsildar Kalaroos, Assistant Executive Engineer PMGSY Sub Division Kupwara, Assistant Executive Engineer PMGSY Sub Division Lolab, and other concerned departmental officers.
Speaking to the media, MLA Kupwara Fayaz Mir stated that these road projects were a decades-old demand of the local population, who had been deprived of basic road connectivity for a long time. He further informed that work on the BSNL cellular network tower in the area is currently in progress, while the power connectivity project worth ₹12 crore has already been tendered and awarded, with construction work expected to commence shortly.
The projects are expected to significantly improve mobility, access to essential services, and overall quality of life for the residents of these far-flung areas.
