FCS&CA Dept Penalises, Registers Cases Against Dealers Involved in Market Malpractices in Kupwara

Kupwara : Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Kashmir during a market-checking drive on Tuesday penalised and initiated cases against several dealers for alleged involvement in market malpractices in this north-Kashmir district.

An official part of the checking-squad told GNS that several teams from the department visited various market places in the district to assess an on-ground report on the growing complaints of alleged hoarding and over-pricing of essential commodities by some local dealers.

The teams, as per the official, visited market places including that in Kupwara, Kalaroos, Sogam, Zirhama, Kralpora, Chowkibal, Keran, Karnah, Tarathpora, Magam, Handwara, Kulangam, Kralgund and Langate.

“During the inspection, the teams on Tuesday (10-11-2020) raided 472 establishments during which a fine in tune of 1100 rupees was realised from ten erring dealers even as cases under relevant sections taken up against 19 other dealers”, the official said.

The concerned department has been continuously receiving complaints against some unscrupulous dealers involved in malpractices including illegal profiteering and hoarding of essential commodities in the district, which as per the official, warranted strict action and as such the department is in action for quite a while now to crack a whip on such dealers.
