Pursuant to the order issued by General Administration Department on 07.05.2021, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat took over the charge of the Vice Chairman Lakes and Waterways Development Authority on 8th May, 2021 from Tufail Matto who has been asked to report to GAD for further duties.
An IRS officer of 2014 batch, Dr. Bashir has been cleared by MHA for rendering his services in the Govt of J&K.
Bashir has a meritorious service for which he has already been awarded the Union Finance Minister’s award in 2018-19.
Dr. Bashir has a degree in Vet Science and has also served as KAS officer before qualifying for Civil Services in 2013 in which he was allocated Indian Revenue Service, Income Tax.
On the occasion, he chaired an introductory meeting with LDA officials and underscored the need for conservation of lake Dal for posterity. My priority would be to take sincere efforts for restoration/conservation of Dal and Nageen Lake for which I need support of officials and stakeholders, the Vice Chairman said. He also emphasized the need of stopping the menace of illegal constructions and encroachment being carried out in the jurisdiction of LDA.
