Don’t treat “Riyakaari” as Journalism

By Adnan Shah

When the whole world has been grappling with a pandemic of this scale where lives are lost and economies have crashed to the point of no return, a fake doctor is caught practicing so openly with a sense of impunity, is and must be a serious concern.

We have a society that feeds on vile and venom and socialization has gone for a toss with professionalism at its lowest ebb, this merits a substantial course correction and some serious thought process to rectify it.

This is not the first instance of crippling nepotism and endemic corruption in our society, but do we have an option to outsource social change! I guess not. If a doctor is fake and it must not be used to demean the whole enterprise of social service provided by some of the finest doctors, that is grossly wrong and reprehensible. We can’t sock stretch every wrong act to demean the whole great contributions and greater professionalism of the whole doctor’s fraternity.

The terrain of journalism is itself a slippery one and if one falters to strike a chord between the honesty and sense of responsibility, the same journalism suffers from the same malice of corruption, misconduct and nepotism. We all know the place we inhabit, has a history of a world of tragedies and the same journalist fraternity contests the political correctness amongst its own ranks to claim perks and they don’t care what the hell happens due to their misconduct. We have similar thugs and crooks existing everywhere in every segment of public life across the board in every department and in every sphere.
If this doctor isn’t tolerated due to his dishonesty and misconduct so must we be equally enraged if a journalist or a teacher or any other professional acts unethical and is involved in similar crime.

Judgments must not be made within the larger shroud of journalism or under the umbrella of doing some sacred job with intent to hide your underlying fakeness and agenda based journalism, because this sort of media trail that too by nonprofessional compass will drag our society down into slumber.

Remember that journalist needs to uphold what is within his ethical code and two wrongs never justify the right end lest we introspect.
