Srinagar: Director Information & Public Relation Dr Sehrish Asgar on Saturday warned elements using social media apps for rumor mongering and said all users are under surveillance and no one is excluded. She appealed people to come out of their homes only in case of exigency.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Dr Sehrish said several elements using social media apps are spreading unrecognized information among masses and creating problems in the work of administration while dealing current situation.“Those run unrecognized and fake WhatsApp groups to spread misinformation among masses are creating problems for administration. Such elements should keep it in their mind that all users are under surveillance and no one is excluded so disseminating any unfounded news among masses will lead to tough action against such elements”, Dr Sehrish warned. She said, “If such elements don’t mend their ways, they can be booked under law”.Dr Sehrish also said in current circumstances administration on one side is engaged in containing the situation but rumor mongers on the other side are complicating things for authorities which are unacceptable.“I advise such elements don’t spread misinformation. There are strict guidelines from Supreme Court (SC) to bring such elements into task”, she said. She appealed people to stay indoors and follow medical protocol properly if there is an unavoidable need to come outside.“I appeal people to stay inside their homes and come out only in case of exigencies. Also to follow medical advisories, wash hands after every two hours and cover face and mouth while using masks”, Dr Sehrish said. When asked lockdown violation cases are repeatedly reported from several areas across Kashmir, she said administration in on job to deal such elements.“Administration is on job and has lodged several cases against violators in several parts of Valley during last few days. As a welfare government, I appeal people to voluntarily desist from disobedience and inform us if anybody resorts to violation”, She said. She told KNS that people shouldn’t go panic. “Get updated from DIPR’s official website and twitter handler as we are uploading verified updates for our people”, She added.
