DIG NKR Reviews Independence Day Security Preparedness in Kupwara

Kupwara, August 11, 2026:
DIG North Kashmir Range, Shri Vinod Kumar-IPS, today visited District Kupwara and reviewed the security preparedness for the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations.

The DIG NKR chaired a security review meeting with senior officers of Kupwara Police, Army, CAPFs and sister agencies. The meeting focused on the overall security grid, deployment arrangements, area domination, naka checking, traffic regulation and operational preparedness for the August 15 celebrations.

SSP Kupwara, Shri Al Tahir Gilani-JKPS, briefed the DIG NKR on the arrangements put in place across the district, including intensified checking, patrolling, area domination and security measures at vulnerable locations.

While reviewing the prevailing security scenario, the DIG NKR directed all officers to maintain close surveillance, strengthen the security grid and ensure seamless coordination and timely sharing of intelligence among Police, Army, CAPFs and other agencies.

He stressed upon maintaining a high level of alertness and operational readiness while ensuring smooth movement and minimum inconvenience to the public during the celebrations.
