Deputy Commissioner Kupwara conferred with SKOCH Award-

Kupwara, Feb, 24: The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg has been conferred with SKOCH Award for the project “Khidmat-e- Kupwara”, an intervention to improve the infrastructure and service delivery in Health Care of district Kupwara. The national level award recognises exceptional projects in the area of Financial and Social inclusion that focus on improvement at good governance and effective Citizens Service Delivery.


The project was initiated in April 2019 with various components, like Provision of Modern Amenities and health Equipments, thrust on Maternal, Child and Adolescent Care, Adoption of Best Practices for patient care, Coverage of all Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Capacity Building and Training of Staff especially ASHAs.


The initiative included Infrastructure upgradation and provision of Modern Amenities in SDH Kupwara especially Fencing of 60 Kanal land pending for over 10 years, speedy completion of 200 bedded new IPD Block, Mechanized Sanitation Services and improved Housekeeping towards better patient care. CT facilities were introduced alongwith6 Dialysis Machines that have benefited86 registered patients till date.5 new Gensets for Round the clock healthcare at hospitals of all 3 Municipal towns of the district, viz, Kupwara, Handwara and langate have been made operational as part of the project. Further, Saturation of all 163 high and higher educational institutions with sanitary Pad Vending Machines and Incinerators has been ensured before start of current academic session. Accreditation of District Training Institute with National institute of Open Schooling (NIOs)for training of all 950 ASHAs as per as per national standards has also been obtained to strengthen capacity building of field staff in the border district.


The District Administration is working towards DNB Certification of SDH Kupwara in 3 disciplines of medicine, Surgery and Anaesthesia and measures are underway to achieve Kayakalp & LAQSHYA standards in 10 health centres on priority basis. Moreover construction work for recently approved Medical College Handwara is also slated to commence soon.
