KUPWARA, JANUARY 12: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din today chaired a day long Municipal Diwas and Grievance Redressal Camp at Town Hall Handwara. President, Muncipal Committe Handwara, Masroor Ahmad Banday; DDC Member Rajwar, Suliman Mir , District officers and citizens participated in the Municipal diwas with adherence of Covid appropriate behaviour (CAB). In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said that the objective of holding of Municipal diwas is to listen and address the developmental issues of the people living in towns adding that this was the first initiative of the administration to hold a separate public interaction programme in the town. The Deputy Commissioner said that the augmentation of water and power supply is among the top priorities of the Government adding that the ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission programme is being implemented and every household will get taped water connection by August 2022. Regarding power supply, the Deputy Commissioner said that regular inspection of Receiving Stations is being held on weekly basis by himself to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the people. He said the power scenario is getting streamlined day by day by augmentation of various Receiving stations in the district. Earlier, President Municipal Committee, DDC Member, councillors also spoke and raised various issues with regard to their local requirements. The Deputy Commissioner gave them patient hearing and assured that all genuine demands shall be fulfilled in a time bound manner. District Officers on the occasion spoke and provided awareness of schemes of their concerned departments, besides, replied to the queries raised on the occasion. On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the need of implementation of Covid appropriate behaviour in view of the spike in the Covid and omicron cases in the UT. He exhorted upon the people to follow Covid appropriate behaviour and other SOPs religiously to keep the pandemic at bay. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned Officers for implementation of Covid appropriate behaviour on ground in letter and spirit.
