KUPWARA, APRIL 29: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray today visited far flung sub division Karnah of Kupwara district and chaired a mega public darbar at Tangdar.
SDM Karnah, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather; Tehsildar Karnah, BDO, XEN SSD Karnah, besides, PRIs and people in large number attended the public darbar.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said that the government is committed for grassroot development of the far flung areas of UT like Karnah to ensure people are benefitted in these areas.
Referring to the tourism development, he said that during the year 2022-23, Kupwara district registered a tourist footfall upto 3.75 lakh which is over and above the previous year 2020-21 in which around 40000 tourists had visited the district. He said during the ongoing year, 2.5 lakh people had visited the district so far out of them around 30000 people visited Teetwal area of Karnah sub division. The DC said that more homestays need to be developed in these areas to encourage more and more tourist inflow. He appealed the unemployed educated youth to get loan under PMEGP scheme upto Rs.10 lakh with 35 to 40% subsidy and develop homestays and other tourist facilities to generate their own livelihood.
He said tourism activities are being promoted by the District Administration by development of infrastructure including forest shelters, water fronts and other attractions.
Referring to the transparency in public services, the DC said that the District Administration is continuously getting feedback of the performance of line departments and field officers to ensure zero tolerance towards corruption.
Referring to road construction, the DC said that construction of 4 roads have already been approved under NABARD in Karnah subdivision adding that efforts are on to approve maximum developmental projects to ensure overall development of the border sub division.
Earlier, PRIs and senior citizens spoke and put forth various day to day developmental issues before the Deputy Commissioner.
The Deputy Commissioner heard them patiently and issued on spot directions to the concerned officers for redressal of the issues.
On the occasion, various delegations consisting of civil society, media fraternity, ST Forum, Teachers Forum, Pahari Culture Club and Contractor Association met the Deputy Commissioner.
