BANDIPORA, JULY 23: Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmed convened a meeting of religious leaders, Imams, Khateebs, Awqaaf members, civil society members with an aim to sensitize the people about the pandemic and discuss Covid19 containment measures taken by the government.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmed Mir, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Reyaz Ahmad Beigh, President Municipal Committee Bandipora, Basharat Ahmad, Hajin and Sumbal, Presidents of Traders Federations, Imams and religious leaders from different areas of the district besides other senior officers of the district.
While addressing the meeting the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora said that in the past few days COVID -19 positive cases have raised to an alarming point hence more precautions need to be taken.
He said the war against the pandemic cannot be won without the active cooperation from the people as people need to take extra care to prevent the virus from spreading. He said the religious leaders should play their role in informing the people about this fatal disease and appeal them to take precautions necessary to prevent the spread of disease.
Dr Owais further said that keeping in view the nature and spread of disease in the region it is imperative that the strict discipline is followed especially in the coming festive season. He said that the administration is taking certain preventive steps owing to surge in positive cases but effectiveness of these steps also depends upon cooperation from people. He appealed people to follow guidelines and take precautions for their own well being.
He reiterated on the need of use of masks, sanitizers, avoiding gatherings and other health measures to contain the spread of covid-19 infection. He also sensitized the meeting about the issues of concealing of travel history, social stigma ,violation of lockdown and importance of following of health guidelines and urged imams and civil society members to create massive awareness among masses for the good cause.
The religious leaders, Imams, khateebs and civil society members appreciated the hardwork done by administration and medical teams in controlling the disease and assured their full support in fight against Covid-19.
