1 lakh home deliveries made in Kupwara during lockdown: DC Kupwara
Kupwara: On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg, mobile ATM facility was provided to the people living in Red Zone area of Anderhama today to facilitate cash withdrawals in view of upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
“We have deputed a mobile ATM to facilitate Red Zone areas of the district to make cash available to people at their door steps with norms of social distancing and avoiding any large gatherings”, said the Deputy Commissioner, adding that the step was taken in view of ensuing holy month of Ramadan. He said that 7 Banking Corespondents (BCs) have been deployed in the Red Zones of the district for cash delivery in the wake of financial assistance under PMKISAN, JanDhan and other schemes of GOI.
A total No of 886 transactions have been facilitated by these BCs totaling to Rs 34.68 Laks in the past week.
Regarding availability of food grains, the Deputy Commissioner informed that all essential commodities including food grains are available in sufficient quantities in the district, including border areas of Karnah, Keran ,Machil and Jumgund. He said PDS ration have been distributed in advance to all household for the months of April and May, while as distribution of free ration for April under PMGKY for PHH and AAY house holds shall be completed by 25th April.
The medical teams deputed in red zone areas are also actively working and conducting door to door survey , besides testing process is also going on aggressively and over 800 suspects have been tested till date. In addition, over one lakh home delivery of groceries, LPG and medicines have been made during the lockdown period, with special focus on people residing in Red Zones.
Meanwhile, in view of holy month of Ramadan, Deputy Commissioner directed Executive Officers of Municipal Committees of Kupwara, Handwara & Langate and all Tehsildars of the district to keep constant check on the availability and price line of essential commodities. He also directed to constituted market checking squads (MCS), comprising of CAPD, Revenue, police, Municipality and Legal Metrology departments at Tehsil level with a mandate to keep constant check on hoarding and black marketing in District, so that people don’t face any inconvenience during the holy month, amid lockdown due to COVID-19 Pandemic.
