COVID19 : DM Kupwara Imposes Restrictions under Section 144 CrPC


Complete Restrictions on Public, Vehicular Movement from 21st to 25th May


Kupwara, May 20: With an aim to control the spread of COVID-19 Infection, District Magistrate Kupwara Anshul Garg imposed restrictions under section 144 CrPC and section 34 of Disaster Management Act wherein strict restrictions on any public or vehicular movement shall remain enforced within the district from 6 am on 21st of May to 6 pm on 25th of May 2020.
An order issued by the District Magistrate reads that the restrictions are being imposed to control the spread of Coronavirus and to avoid any kind of gatherings in wake of forthcoming festivals .
According to the order,  concerned Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars have been appointed as duty magistrates who shall ensure to enforce the restrictions in their respective areas. The order also mandates concerned SHOs to make public announcements on loudspeakers and to ensure strict implementation of the said order.
However, the order shall not be applicable on Govt Officers/Officals who are carrying valid identify cards. Moreover, Ambulance having valid referalls issued by Medical Officer or BMO and vehicles carrying essential commodities and having valid movement passes have also been exempted from the restrictions.
