Kupwara, April 16: In a major political development in Kupwara, former Congress district president, Muneer Ahmad Mir, who has resigned from his position in the evening on Saturday is likely to join Aam Aadmi Party.
Sources close to Mir said that he is in touch with AAP top leaders is likely to join the party soon. K
Kupwara Times tried to reach to Muneer Ahmad Mir, but he was not available for comments.
Muneer who hails from Lolab constituency of Kupwara district is a well known political figure in the area.
He has also contested maiden district development council elections held in December 2020 but could not win the elections.
Muneer Mir was considered close to the Congress high command of Jammu and Kashmir, but his ouster from party will affect Congress heavily.
Interestingly before Muneer Mir, Congress’s another stalwart and former district president of Congress Haji Farooq had also resigned from Congress during the DDC elections. He contester wavoora DDC constituency and later joined People’s Conference and is now vice chairman DDC district Kupwara.

“I Muneer Ahmed Mir from Lolab constituency am resigning today on 16th April 2022 from the party fold with immediate effect.
It is an honour for me to serve the Congress Party, whose values and ideals have served as the lifeblood of our beautiful nation. I owe the country and my organisation a debt of tremendous gratitude and love.
As District President Kupwara of the Congress Party, Accountability is critical for the future growth of our party. It is for this reason that I am resigning as Congress District President kupwara.
I was born a Congressman, this party has always been with me and is my life’s blood and forever that way it shall remain.
