As COVID Cases Spike, Govt Re-Imposes Lockdown In Kupwara

Lockdown to be Imposed in view of Spike in COVID-19 Positive Cases

Baramulla, August 02: As a precautionary measure to minimise the spread of COVID-19 positive cases in the district, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today said that there shall be complete lockdown in both urban as well as rural areas with effect from 03 August 2020 till further orders. He said that the decision was taken in view of persistent rise of COVID-19 cases from past few days and that too from outside of containment/buffer zones.

Accordingly, restrictions in terms of Section 144 Cr PC and Section 34 of Disaster Management Act, 2005  shall remain in force in the whole district wherein all shops and business establishments shall remain closed. There will also be complete restriction on the movement of public traffic and only private vehicles with valid movement passes shall be allowed to move.

Moreover, the law enforcement agencies and other concerned officers including SSPs of Baramulla/Sopore, SDMs, Tehsildars, Naib-Tehsildars, SDPOs, SHOs and other duty magistrates have been mandated to ensure  strict implementation of restrictions in towns, villages and other areas through out the district.

DC also appealed the people to cooperate with the administration and follow all related SOPs and guidelines especially using face masks and maintaining social distancing. He added that strict legal action shall be taken against the violators.
