Srinagar, Sept 25 : BJP District President Kupwara Mohammad Shafi Mir on Friday appealed Lieutenant Governor to safeguard the lives of political activists by providing them adequate security cover in wake tough challenges posed by militants in valley.
Addressing media persons in north Kashmir’s Kupwara, Mir said despite repeated pleas to authorities to provide security cover to political activists in valley, no positive results have come so far in this regard.
He said due to constant threat, party activists are parting ways and tenders resignation which is not a good omen for a democratic set-up.
Mir said that few hours ago our two party functionaries – District President and Block President – have tendered their resignation as they are authorities have failed to provide them adequate security cover.
“I took up the matter of with concerned SSP who heard me patiently and assured of concrete result”, BJP leader said, however he maintained that the lives of political workers in valley are being deliberately pushed into risk though the matter has been communicated to concern officials including SSP Security.
He appealed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take personal pains into the issue and ensure adequate security arrangement for political activists in valley. (KNS)
