Advisory for schools
The School Education Department has issued advisory for all government and private schools in J&K with strict instructions to the school heads for taking precautionary measures to control the outbreak of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The advisory has been issued in the wake of the recent outbreak of Coronavirus in many countries.
“Class teachers should be alert to any child with signs and symptoms i.e. fever, cough and difficulty in breathing and should immediately inform the parents to have the child tested,” reads an advisory issued by Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK).
“Ask the parents not to send the child back to school till advised by the treating doctor,” it reads.
The advisory states that teachers, school staff and students should be advised about public health measures of hand wash and respiratory hygiene.
“Wash hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water or use alcohol based hand sanitizer, even when hands are visibly clean,” the advisory reads.
“Everyone should cover their mouth with a tissue/handkerchief (or their sleeves if tissues are not available) when they cough or sneeze and wash their hands afterwards,” it reads.The advisory has been issued a day after Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) issued an advisory to all schools, CBSE and Chief Secretaries of states to spread awareness among students on the preventive and other measures against the coronavirus outbreak.The DSEK advisory as asked the students not to touch their eyes, nose and mouth.
“Everyone should throw away used tissues in bins and wash hands after contact with coughing/sneezing,” it reads.The school heads have been asked to keep available adequate quantity of sanitizers/cleaners in schools.
“Any student or staff member with travel history to any COVID-19 affected country or in contact with such persons in last 28 days, should be monitored and home quarantined for 14 days,”
the advisory reads ,Anybody with symptoms fever, cough or difficulty in breathing should call 24X7 helpline numbers of Health and Family Welfare department at 9419010363 or 911942440283 or visit public health facility with a mask or mouth covered.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) has issued a separate advisory and asked the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) to direct heads of institutions of government and private schools to take necessary measures of cleanliness as well as awareness among students to control Coronavirus menace.
“Observe good personal hygiene. Cover mouth & nose with bent elbow or tissue while sneezing or coughing. Stay away from school when sick,” reads the advisory issued for students enrolled in schools of Jammu division.The DSEJ has also asked the students and teachers to stay away from public gatherings. “Don’t go in close contact any one, if you are experiencing cough or fever,” it reads.The students have been advised not to spit in public and avoid travelling to farms or live animal markets where animals are slaughtered,” it reads.Any child with signs and symptoms of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing should be referred to authorised local medical authority. “Parents of the concerned child should be immediately contacted,” it reads.
