COVID19: 11 new cases from Gonipora Handwara

Handwara, May 14: A 25-year old pregnant lady of Reshipora Qaziabad area of north Kashmir’s Handwara town tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday, hospital sources said.

Sources said that few days ago, the said pregnant lady visited Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore for gynecological consultation where doctors and other paramedical staff took her samples for Covid-19 investigations.

“She tested positive for Covid-19 according to reports that came on Wednesday late evening”, they said and added, “Soon after her results, the lady and her husband have been admitted in isolation ward at SDH Sopore for following medical protocol and other related investigations”.

They added that family members of the couple have also been quarantined at Handwara where doctors took their samples for further course of action.

Dr Firdous Iqbal of SDH Langate confirmed that case and said the couple has been kept into isolation ward in SDH Sopore while their family members have been quarantined at SDH Langate.

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports reached to KNS said that locals of Dangiwacha on Thursday afternoon dug Dangiwacha – Reshipora road to prevent the virus from spreading to another area. (KNS)
