10th standard results: Living in tin shed, without tution, borrowed books, G’bal girl secures 98% marks

17 students secure 100% marks

SRINAGAR: Parveena Ayub—a 15-year-old student, living in a tin shed qualified 10th standard exams with 98 percent marks with borrowed books, without any tuition, or other resources.

The talented girl has secured 490 marks out of 500 without taking any private tuition.

Hailing from Latiwaza village of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, Parveena belongs from Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) category- the person under the category belongs to the impoverished family.

“I am extremely happy after knowing that I have secured 98 percent of marks,” she said.

Parveena said, “I didn’t take any tuition even though I had no books, notes or references to prepare for the exams. I borrowed notes and books from my friends and copied them in my notebook in order to prepare for the exams.”

“My father is a laborer and I didn’t want him to be under any compulsion to spend a hefty amount on my education,” she said.

Parveena was studying in Government Higher Secondary School Kurhama Ganderbal.

Meanwhile, BOSE in annual regular results of 10th standard announced on Friday said that at least 17 students have secured 100 percent marks.

One of the students, Toiba Showkat of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district who secured 100 percent marks said that she studied hard to secure 500 marks out of 500.

“My hard work and the parents’ support helped me in securing 100 percent marks. I usually used to study more in the night hours because in the day time, I had to do some house chores,” Toiba said.

She said that her parents always dreamt of seeing her in a doctor’s gown, “I want to turn their dream into reality and I will work harder to realize it.”

Likewise, another student, Tabasum Gulzar of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district also secured 100 percent marks.

Tabasum suggested other students not to study under any sort of pressure. She urged them not to study for competition, but for excellence.
