Kupwara,Sep 21 :On the directions of the Deputy Commisioner (DC) Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan (IAS), awareness programmes regarding eradication of drug menace under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) were organized at Block Headquarters, Handwara, Kupwara and Drugmulla today.
At Block Headquarters Handwara, the Additional Deputy Commisioner Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir was the chief guest at the event.
ADC sought cooperation from the religious heads, families particularly from parents to overcome the menace among the youth which leads to other social evils and crimes.
ADC said that , “Drug abuse is the biggest challenge which our young generation is facing and to eradicate this menace society as a whole needs to make concerted efforts”.
On the ocasion, Principal BHSS Handwara, Muhammad Rafiq Mir; BDO Handwara, Asif Ameen; Tehsildar Handwara, Shahbaz Ahmad Akhoon; Nodal Officer District Hospital Handwara, Dr. Javid Iqbal and Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Handwara spoke about harmful effects of drug abuse.
Awareness programme was attended by PRIs, AWWs, ASHAs, Auqaf committee Members and local residents attended the awareness programme.
Awareness programme under Nash Mukt Bharat Abhyan(NMBA) was organized at Block Headquarters Kupwara.
BDO Kupwara, Mansoor Ahmad Shah on the ocasion said that drug abuse is tearing mentally and physically to its abuser and breaking social fabric of society. He urged PRIs, and all other stake holders to play their active role so that Kupwara district becomes drug Society the ocasion Tehsildar Kupwara, Nyaz Ahmad Bhat also elaborated on the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Awareness programme was attended by BDC Kupwara, PRIs, Prominent citizens, civil society members, ASHAs and AWWs.
At Block Headquarter Drugmulla, Awareness programme under NMBA was also organised which was presided over by Tehsildar Drugmulla Aijaz Ahmad Khuroo.
A large gathering of people, PRIS, AWWs, ASHAs attended the awareness programme.
