Srinagar, Jan 10: Over ten thousand employees engaged under National Health Mission (NHM) are living a life of uncertainty as there is no job security being provided to them even as the being dispensed with a meager amount of wages for over a decade now.
JK NHM Employees Association President Muneer Andrabi said that they have written a representation letter to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to seek his intervention into the matter.
The representation letter, as per Andrabi read; “More than 10,000 National Health Mission employees, including doctors, paramedics and managerial professionals, have dedicated prime of their youth in service of the people of the JK-UT since 2007 and have been instrumental in improving the healthcare indicators of the UT. However, these professionals, who have been selected through set recruitment process of the government, find themselves grappling with prospects of a dark and uncertain future.”
“Lack of job security and meager wages are the main issues facing the employees working under the ambit of NHM. To address some of the issues, the Government had made several commitments in January 2018 but the commitments are yet to be fulfilled. It is requested that the commitments already agreed to by the government be fulfilled forthwith to restore the confidence of the suffering employees in the idea of justice and fairness of the system. It is worthwhile to mention that committee set up by the government has already submitted a report to the Health & Medical Education department and recommended phased regularisation of the NHM employees”, the letter reads.
“In this context, it is requested that in the spirit of welfare of UT and with the intention of providing justice to the aggrieved, a final job/regularisation policy be framed for employees working under ambit of NHM in J&K-UT through creation of fresh posts or phased absorption in the H&ME department including new medical colleges against available vacancies”, the letter further reads.
