Kupwara Administration Hosts Mega Awareness Event under Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan at GDC Karnah


KUPWARA, APRIL 30: The District Administration Kupwara today organized a mega awareness event under the Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan at Government Degree College (GDC) Karnah, reaffirming its commitment to building a drug-free society through sustained public engagement and youth participation.
The programme was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, and witnessed the presence of SSP Kupwara, Syed Al Tahir Gilani, Deputy Commander 104, Col Sundeep Bose . Among other prominent attendees were the Principal of GDC Karnah, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad wani, ACR Kupwara, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, BDO Tangdar Mudasir Sikander Tehsildar Karmah Mohammad Amin Bhat , Xen SSD Tangdar Javid Iqbal ,Social Activist Touseef Ahmad Raina members of the Bar Association Karnah, representatives of civil society, faculty members, and a large gathering of enthusiastic students.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the urgent need for collective societal action to combat the menace of drug abuse. He highlighted that youth are the most valuable asset of the nation and called upon them to act as ambassadors of change by spreading awareness about the ill effects of substance abuse within their communities.
SSP Kupwara, in his address, underlined the role of law enforcement agencies in curbing drug trafficking and urged the public to cooperate with authorities by sharing information and supporting preventive initiatives. Col. Sundeep Bose and other officers also spoke about the drug abuse and need for its eradication.
A pledge ceremony was conducted during the event, where all participants collectively resolved to stay away from drugs and contribute actively towards creating a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
The programme also featured vibrant cultural performances by students, including skits, songs, and thematic presentations, creatively conveying powerful messages about the dangers of drug addiction and the importance of leading a healthy and disciplined life.
On the occasion, awareness about the Gyan Bharatam initiative was also imparted to the participants. The initiative aims to survey, document, and digitize India’s vast and invaluable manuscript heritage, thereby preserving the country’s rich intellectual and cultural legacy for future generations. Participants were encouraged to contribute to this national mission by identifying and sharing information about rare manuscripts in their possession or communities.
The event concluded with a renewed sense of commitment among all stakeholders to work collaboratively towards the eradication of drug abuse and the promotion of a healthier, informed, and culturally enriched society.

The Deputy Commissioner also chaired a One Day Literary Conference on the

theme:’Languages as a Tool for Promoting Unity, Solidarity, and Social Harmony’ organized by GDC Tangdar. The conference aimed to promote linguistic diversity, cultural harmony, and
intellectual engagement among students and scholars.
