KUPWARA, OCTOBER 10: To celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child, SANKALP–Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW), Department of Social Welfare, Kupwara today organized an impressive function under the aegis of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao at Kupwara.
The programme aimed to promote awareness about the rights of the girl child, gender equality and empowerment of women and girls.
District Mission Coordinator, Ms. Khalida Yasin highlighted the significance of the day and elaborated on various initiatives under Mission Shakti for holistic development and empowerment of women and girls in the district.
On the occasion, NEET qualifiers, women entrepreneurs, girls excelling in youth services & sports, besides dedicated ASHA and Anganwadi Workers were felicitated for their outstanding achievements and selfless service.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad Khan graced the occasion as chief guest. In his address, he underscored the importance of girls’ education for building an empowered society and advocated for promotion of simple marriages to curb social evils.
District Social Welfare Officer Kupwara, Javid Ahmad Bhat presented the vote of thanks.
Officials from Social Welfare Department, students and a large number of women participated in the programme.
