Chief Medical Officer, Kupwara clarifies on procurement

KUPWARA, JUNE 26: Chief Medical Officer (CMO)  Kupwara today said that Health Department and its employees have rendered exemplary service during COVID-19 pandemic in Kupwara district but a few newspapers have tried to dent the image of the department by publishing a news item which is false and far from reality.

Rebutting the news , the CMO said that with reference to the news item published in various local dailies sourced from KPS/Tameel-I-Irshad news agency wherein the news report captioned as ‘’Misappropriation of funds in CMO office’’ is baseless and fabricated in nature.

“The report quoting anonymous sources is based on false information and the concerned news agency has not bothered to take the official version into account and the allegations labelled are not only false but a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of this department and its employees,” CMO said.

The allegations regarding the procurement of rain coats for ₹900 are completely false and the set procedure for procurement was duly followed and the equipment was purchased on competitive rates.

Moreover CMO Kupwara said that Tab Hydroxychloroquine-400 mg (1500 tablets) was purchased by her office; Hydroxychloroquine-400 mg (500 tablets) from Salim enterprises Sopore on 30-03-2020 and Tab Fluvir-75 Mg (500 tabs) from AM traders New colony Sopore on 13-04-2020 for the covid-isolation hospitals after following proper codal formalities and these have been accordingly dispensed to various Covid Care Hospitals in the district through proper procedure.

CMO Kupwara said that her office has not received any grant for fencing of SDH Kupwara during current financial year as mentioned by the newspaper in its report which is completely false.

“The entire news report is based on assumptions without taking into account the veracity of facts from the concerned department. The concerned news agency has circulated it as a news item and created an impression of maladministration and corruption in the office of CMO Kupwara which in turn has demoralized the staff and also dented the rather clean image of this office, “ the CMO clarified in her statement.
