KUPWARA, SEPTEMBER 10: As part of Union Government’s public outreach programme for Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister of State for Defence and Tourism, Ajay Bhatt had a whirlwind tour of border district Kupwara of North kashmir, today.
During the tour, the Minister visited forward post near LOC and reviewed the security scenario in the area.He also interacted with Army officers and troops.
Later, the Minister visited Horticulture Base Station Chogul expanded over 184 kanals of land. He inspected Horticulture Department stall and saw different variety of fruits, grapes, walnut, organic honey and visited seedling nurseries of different fruit species. He also interacted with progressive orchadists and farmers, besides women Self Helf Groups and local PRIs.
The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din; Director Tourism, GN Itoo; SSP Kupwara Dr.G V Sundeep; SP Handwara, Sandeep Gupta, ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir; DDC Member Rajwar, M Sulimaan, BDC Chairpersons Showkat Ahmad, and other concerned were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister expressed his happiness for being with common people of the border district Kupwara. He said that the great etiquettes of Sofi Saints are still alive in Kashmir, as reflected by the manners of the people here during his arrival. He said Kashmir is really a paradise on earth and the Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are making all out efforts to keep its beauty by providing overall development of the area, especially border district Kupwara. He said he has noted all demands projected by PRIs ,Self Helf Groups and the public and assured that all demands would be discussed and put up with Government at Union level and with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. He said he felt happy on seeing that people are marching farward and development activities are going in a big way . He assured that border tourism, eco tourism and Horticulture tourism will be taken up on priority. He congrats Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and police authorities for better coordination at ground level.
The Minister laid foundation stone of Rs.72 lakh Synthetic Handball Court at Boys Higher Secondary School, Kandi Khas and interacted with members of Youth Club and local PRIs.
Addressing the gathering , the Minister enlisted the Centrally Sponsored Schemes and urged the need for better use of these schemes by all stakeholders. He invited the people of Kashmir to visit him at Delhi as guest so that they can see parliament house and other things there.
He urged upon the youth to chanalize their talent in the prospective way and earn laurels for themselves and the nation.The Minister said he felt happy on knowing that two youth from Kashmir has been selected as doctors in AIIMs, adding that the Government of India is behind the youth of Kashmir for their better future.He said Kashmir to kinyakumari is one nation.
The Minister also had seperate meetings with PRIs, including Chairman District Development Council, Irfan Sultan Panditpori;VIce Chairman DDC, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir, DDC Members, BDC Chairpersons and other deputations.
On the occasion, Chairman DDC, vice Chairman DDC and BDC Chairpersons spoke and submitted charter of demands to the Minister, which include development of border tourism and general developmental issues of the district.
The Minister had a meeting with officers of the district administration where Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Imam Din briefed the Minister about the development profile and the major achievements of the district.
