Handwara : Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference President and MLA Handwara, Sajad Gani Lone, on Saturday stressed the need for delimitation of Panchayat constituencies before conducting the upcoming Panchayat elections.
He said that while elections at the grassroots level are necessary, the current structure of several halqas remains disproportionately large and uneven, which hampers effective governance and fair representation. Lone noted that there is an increasing demand from various sections of society for a rational reorganization of these constituencies.
Emphasizing the importance of equitable representation, he asserted that delimitation would help streamline administrative efficiency and ensure that elected representatives can better address local issues. He urged the authorities to prioritize this process to strengthen democratic institutions at the village level.
