Srinagar,August 22: Social media is flooded with posts and photos about grooms going for simple marriages. Many pictures have gone viral these days showing grooms having only simple tea at their inlaws with not many companions.
This move is being shared widely and praised by many. The photos are shared like fire on social media platforms mainly on Facebook. People praise this good initiative. While commenting on this trend , social activist Showkat Masoodi says “Good omen for coming generation…it will please Almighty and a great relief to all those families who cant afford huge amount .a great message to all who are going to marry in future. It will defntly have an impact on society to change in adoption of old culture “
Earlier it was seen that new fashions were added to Marriages making it difficult for poor people to get their children married.
Zakir Malik, a young poet has this to say about it ” If social evils are being diluted, its really a positive sign of transforming society, evolving community. When a large percentage of unmarried grown-ups are being at the verge of depression for the dowry had made their lives miserable”
It is important to mention that many a thousand girls above the age of 35 are yet to get married as there families cite dowry issues and huge marriage expenses.
As covid is restricting people to their homes and killing many. However, there are some things get going good , nature is healing and here in valley people are going for simple marriages.
