COL SANTOSH MAHADIK, SC (P), SM, CRICKET TOURNAMENT, TREHGAM 2021

Indian Army organised a Cricket Tournament at Hajipir Army Goodwill School Ground in Trehgam. The Tournament is named after Col Santosh Mahadik, SC (P), SM, Commanding Officer 41 Rashtriya Rifle, who attained martyrdom while fighting against terrorists during Op Nagina at Manigah 2016. The tournament was organised from 20 to 25 Sep in which 10 Teams from Trehgam, Kunan, Poshpora, Babagund, Dolipura and Hayan participated with great enthusiasm and fervor.

The Tournament was aimed at providing the youth of Trehgam a stage to showcase their talent as well as promote sports as a medium of physical and mental well being. Also it was used as a platform to make the youth aware about the prevalent drug menace in todays youth and its effect on them and the society.

Finals were played on 25 Sep between Trehgam Reds & Bluestar Poshpora B and was won by Trehgam Reds by 6 wickets. The winners were given the Col Santosh Mahadik Trophy, a Cricket Kit as well as Rs 5000/- whereas the runners up were given a Trophy, a Cricket Kit & Rs 3000/-. Omar Pir of Trehgam Reds was adjudged best batsman of the tournament and Jahangir Ahmed Sheikh was adjudged best bowler of the tournament. The prizes were given by Commander Hajipir Brigade and was attended by various dignitaries, youth and school students.
