Handwara: Assistant Accounts Officer, Power Development Department Handwara, accused of accepting bribe, was arrested here on Saturday, officials said.
A senior police officer told , that on the basis of complaint, a team accompanied by Tehsildar Handwara trapped the erring official at his office.
“The team recovered rupees 20000/ from possession of the person which he had taken as bribe”, the officer said.
The accused person has been arrested and a case under FIR number 337/2021 under section 7 of PC Act has been registered for further proceedings, the officer added.
It has been in the meantime learnt by GNS that the complaint was filed by a Handwara-based contractor namely Khalid Shah.
