Parvez Rasool is 4th Indian, 2nd J&K cricketer to take 8 wickets in an innings & score a century

Interestingly, J&K’s Ravinder Pandit, in 1986-87 season had also achieved feat against Services.

J&K skipper Parvez Rasool on Friday became the fourth Indian cricketer and second J&K player to score a hundred and take eight wickets in an innings of a first-class match.
Parvez achieved career-best figures of 8/85 in the Services first inning and followed that with 115-run knock in his team’s second innings of ongoing Ranji Trophy Elite Group C round four match against Services at Palam, New Delhi.

Three players to achieve feat before him were Chandra Sarwate for Holkar versus Mysore in the 1945-46 Ranji Trophy season, J&K’s Ravinder Pandit against Services in 1986-87 and the former Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Jalaj Saxena who did it in consecutive seasons for Kerala.
Sarwate made 101 and then claimed 9/61; Pandit made 158 and took 8/33; and Saxena in 2017-18 against Rajasthan scored an unbeaten 105 to go with 8/85 and then this season scored 133 and took 8/45 against Andhra to become the first Indian cricketer to achieve the milestone on two occasions.
Interestingly, J&K’s Ravinder Pandit, in 1986-87 season had also achieved feat against Services.
Parvez Rasool scored his tenth first-class hundred soon after lunch on Friday while crossing 4,000 career runs.
