Kupwara :- Residents of Kupwara town are up in arms against Power Development Department for pushing them to dark ages by resorting to unscheduled cuts in electricity supply.
“Frequent power cuts have made the situation miserable for us. Despite the fact that we have been paying regular bills, we are left to suffer amid freezing cold,” said Shayista Muzaffar , a resident of Kupwara Town .
“We are facing regular power cuts especially from 4pm to  10pm from the past three weeks even when the Town is fully metered,” Said Irshad Pir resident of Dudwan.
“The unscheduled power cuts have left us distressed, especially in this coldest season,” said Waseem Peer a local resident.
“The power cuts have been affecting the study of students  who are now appearing in many competitive examinations”.
We are suffering badly  due to the frequent power cuts. “We aren’t able to study in the evening hours” Musharaf Nabi and other students said.
Meanwhile, shopkeepers of the Kupwara Town said that electronic meters had been installed in their shops . However, they said, the PDD has failed to provide uninterrupted supply. They said they were suffering huge losses.
